Why and what i collect.

They are various reasons to collect, and you can collect anything you want (or can), but some people, and I include myself, are more inclined to get atach to things, and the posesion, study, and use of such thing bring a great deal of pleasure.

1. Manga

I dont collect manga in the normal sense, i like to read manga in paper format, and I think buying manga is a way to make part of the process, the author make it, the publisher make it avaiable, and if no one buy it the process stops.

My native language is spanish/portuguese, and I started buying spanish editions, but between 2005 and 2013 I got almost exclusivelly US editons, then, my profesional/personal situation changed, I stoped my collection and resumed in 2023, but now I make the choice of language depending of the title, edition and price.

Now days, I buy 4 to 6 volumes per month, but if a good deal apears, I make the effort and buy some more.

Then is the manga i buy becose I have original art of that title, or is a edition with some extra, like a hand made illustration. This titles are often in japanese, the apealing is not to read, but to have for reference or as collection piece.

2. Anime

I think of anime a by product of manga, and in most cases, not an inferior product, but a way to promote the brand, and make some money for the publisher and other companies like toy manufacturers and music publishers. I dont say there is not a good anime or a title interesting to watch, but to me is not my main focus. Ether way, I like and got some anime shows and movies in my collection.

In the DVD era, it was a way to see a anime with bether quality, as the only way to see anime in that time in some countries was downloading fansubed episodes, and if you dont have the luck to have a good internet connection,
